Ghobash expressed happiness over UAE's participation in the exhibition and said that the country has always been keen on enhancing friendly relations withy Spain and bolstering cooperation in various avenues.

Zaragoza 2008 will highlight the fruitful relationship between water and human societies, as well as the role of water in nurturing civilisations through sustainable development.

As one of the world's pioneering countries giving care and attention to the rational use of water for sustainable development, UAE's participation in the event will highlight the keenness of the country in water preservation and sustainability. UAE will make it an occasion to share with the world community its valuable experience in sustainability.

The unique exhibition is bringing most of the countries from around the world together to think about water and share their respective experiences in the conservation of this most precious resource, seen as the source of life.

Zaragoza International Exhibition 2008 will discuss important themes which include water and life; water as a channel for civilization; water, progress and sustainability and water control. 'The Declaration of Zaragoza' to be issued at the end of the exhibition is widely expected to work as a blueprint for the future policies for individual countries.

Situated on the river Ebro and its tributaries in a valley with a variety of landscapes, ranging from desert to thick forest, meadows and mountains, Zaragoza is projected by experts as the ideal place for an exhibition of global importance.

Zaragoza has been selected to host the event because of its reputation as the administrative capital to one of the prime hydrographic regions in southern Europe, and has an experience spanning 2000 years in water management.
