Knesset Arab members visit UAE

Leader of United Arab List (UAL) at Israel's Knesset Sheikh Ibrahim Sarsur and other Knesset members currently on a visit to the UAE met Tuesday with Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council (FNC) Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair and other FNC officials and members in Abu Dhabi.



"The aims of Knesset members' current UAE visit is to obtain material, moral and media support for Arab establishments and societies operating inside Israel , namely Al Aqsa Society, Orphans and Relief Society, Al Furqan Society and the Palestinian Academic Society", said Sarsur. FNC Speaker affirmed the UAE's government and people to extend support to the Palestinian-Arab population inside Israel, stressing that all Arabs and Muslims are involved in the Palestinian cause.



Visiting Knesset members gave toured the premises of FNC and gave a presentation on the social and political situation of the Arab Palestinian population of Israel (the Arabs of '48), totalling 2.2 million, before and after 1967 as well as on the Israeli practices against them.



United Arab List, they affirmed, follows well-balanced and moderate lines inside Knesset towards preserving the rights of Arab indigenous people of Palestine who will, according to forecasts, account for 45% of Israel's total population by 2025.



Members of the Knesset United Arab list said they are involved in populist work aimed at encourage Arab citizens to get involved in political activities in establishments, local governing councils in order to promote and establish the presence of Arabs and restore their rights.



FNC Speaker was briefed on the situation in Gaza strip and the West Bank as well as on efforts to preserve and document the Arab and Islamic heritage and divert Israeli attempt to erase the Arab and Islamic identity. 10 out of 120 Knesset members are Arabs. Their votes had been positively effective in driving Israel's full withdrawal from Gaza strip. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
