The Seoul Times, the most widely visited web site among English news portals in Korea, prominently played up an article about the recent visit to three East Asian countries--China, Japan and Korea- by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. There are more than 27 million Internet users in Korea alone. At the top of The Seoul Times' front-page article titled "Hamdan's Trip to Far East Bolsters Cooperative Ties with Korea, Japan, China," the article said that Sheikh Hamdan returned home on April 21 after a successful three nation Asian tour which took him to Korea, Japan, and China.

Pointing out that Sheikh Hamdan held talks with leaders of Korea, Japan and China on mechanisms to strengthen bilateral political, economic, trade and technological cooperation, the online newspaper reported that Sheikh Hamdan's trip to Far East Asia underlines the country's foreign policy of bolstering relations of cooperation and friendship with these three major Asian countries.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan was accompanied on his Asian trip by a high-level ministerial delegation comprising Major General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Ministry Under Secretary, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Economic Department, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Minister of Economy and Commerce, Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of Communications, Mohammed Nakhira Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, a number of senior officials and UAE businessmen, the web site noted.

While in Seoul, the online newspaper quoted Sheikh Hamdan as having said that the Palestinian issue is the most important contributing factor to the Middle East peace process. Sheikh Hamdan stressed that as long as the Palestinian issue remains unresolved "terrorism will continue to be a menace," the web site added. The Seoul Times also reported that UAE's relations with South Korea would witness a major and qualitative move forward and would become of a strategic nature in future in the best interest of both countries.

During his visit to China, the last leg of the three nation Asian tour, the Seoul Times reported that a letter from H.H President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to the Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao referred to the UAE's desire to enhance bilateral ties in various fields with China. Sheikh Hamdan delivered the message to the Chinese Premier, whom he met in Beijing on April 20. The Seoul Times (http://theseoultimes.com) is rated as a top-notch Internet English newspaper for foreigners in Korea by major search engines including Yahoo which places the Seoul Times on top of its list of internet English newspapers in Korea.
