President of Lebanon General Michel Suleiman has extended thanks to the UAE for its stances towards Lebanon. He said relations between the two countries were excellent.

This came as Suleiman received yesterday Rahma Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Beirut and Abdullah al Ghafli, Deputy Director of UAE project for aiding Lebanon.

Al Zaabi and Al Ghafli presented a plaque to President Suleiman, commemorating the achievement of the project to clear land mines and cluster bombs, implemented as part of the initiative of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the aid of Lebanon.

President Suleiman also received reports and documentaries on the project.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shatah, Finance Minister in the caretaker Lebanese government received Al Zaabi today. They discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as current developments in Lebanon.

Al Zaabi said after the meeting that ties between the two countries were at their best. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
