The Lebanese Red Crescent Society has commended the humanitarian role played by its UAE counterpart in Lebanon during and after the conflict.

Speaking at a joint meeting in Beirut, Lebanese RCS Chairman Sami Al Dahdah said: "The UAE's humanitarian initiative was widely hailed at the Lebanese grassroots and leadership levels. It was a timely intervention which helped enormously in addressing the problem of acute shortages in medicines and other badly needed relief supplies".

Dahdah underlined the need for the two charity bodies in the UAE and Lebanon to continue their close cooperation so as to alleviate the suffering of the worst affected people of Southern Lebanon. "At the movement, the people of Southern Lebanon are desperately yearning for a quick return to their homes. But the devastation is enormous as hospitals and schools have been totally destroyed", he said. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
