Lebanese Ambassador to the UAE Hassan Berro has paid tribute to the government and people of the UAE for their unstinted support for Lebanon in its current ordeal. 'Positions shown by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, have left good impression with the people and government of Lebanon. Their attitudes have helped healed the wounds of the Lebanese....they have worked tirelessly to provide necessary support to alleviate the suffering of those injured and displaced by the barbaric and savage Israeli aggression on Lebanon,' Berro told the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

He noted that the Emirates campaign to heal Lebanon's wounds and other fund-raising drives which were launched by the Red Crescent Society, Mohammed bin Rashid Charity Foundation along with TV channels in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, were a true expression of standing beside the people of Lebanon during their current painful ordeal.

He said that the Lebanese mission in Abu Dhabi and other Lebanese relief organisations in the UAE welcome cash and kind donations as part of the humanitarian effort to assist the war-affected Lebanese. He explained that donors who would like to offer kind assistance can deliver them to Micco company at Mina Zayed area.

He singled out milk powder, children food, canned beef and luncheon, jams, rice, sugar, cereals, utensils, filters, coolers, medicines, especially antibiotics and painkillers, vaccinations, sterilization tablets and tablets for treatment of blood pressure, heart and diabetes as the most urgently needed relief materials. 'There is also a need for generators, tents and fire-extinguishers,' he added. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
