Lockheed Martin announced yesterday that it was in talks with GCC countries to acquire the upgraded version of its patriot system (PAC-3 Missile). 'We have made presentations on the system to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE. We have discussions with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait,' Ben Hobson, Senior Manager, Air and Missile Defence, International Business Development (Middle East), told the Emirates News Agency (WAM), on the sideline of the ongoing IDEX 2005.

'We hope to go back to Riyadh for further discussion in early summer,' he added.

'Riyadh and Kuwait are studying the offer, but they have not made any decision yet,' he said. Lockheed Martin announced that it has received a US$532 million contract for 156 PAC-3 Missiles for the U.S. Army, The Netherlands and Japan. This represents the first international sales of the battle-proven P AC-3 Missiles. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
