Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, yesterday hoisted the UAE Flag during a ceremony held at the Ministry in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry.

The move follows the generous initiative of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to allocate a day to observe and celebrate UAE flag nationwide.

She confirmed during the ceremony that this precious occasion ingrains the values of patriotism and sense of belonging to the UAE, and encourages working unconditionally for the country.

The Minister said: "It is not strange that the Vice President has chosen the third day of November to celebrate UAE Flag, since it marks the day his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, became the President of the State. This generous initiative reiterates people's commitment and loyalty towards their leader. Raising the flag expresses the particularity of our nation, its identity, its components and development and achievements." She added that the UAE President has so far added much to the process of nation-building and maintain its unity and independence, while ensuring the welfare of its citizens and the UAE status in various international forums.

Sheikha Lubna underscored that under Sheikh Khalifa's wise leadership, the UAE became in record time, an unprecedented role model in terms of development and nation-building. She has also pointed out that the achievements of Sheikh Khalifa "deepen the sincerity and strength of our sense of belonging to our leadership, our commitment to his vision and his wise guidance and reinforcement of the consciousness and how a rightful leader should be".

She said that "We have learned how to love our leadership without false courtesy or equivocation, because the doors were always open to citizens, young and old, caring for their concerns and helping them, while at the same time completing the country's development, internally and externally." Sheikh Lubna said seeing the UAE flag flying high gives great satisfaction to Emiratis, as it represents their aspirations and allegiance to the prudent leadership. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
