Lubna Al Qasimi holds talks with Singapore's Minister of Trade

Hong Kong - Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Economy and Planning, held talks here today with Singaporean Minister of Trade and Industry, Lim Hng Kiang. The talks focused on the economic cooperation between the UAE and Singapore and ways to develop them further in a way that would serve the common interest of the two people.



The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the World Trade Organisation also discussed the topics on the agenda of the 6th ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organisation. They also looked into a host of issues, including countries initiatives in liberating several sectors, stances of countries, groups and blocs regarding reductions, customs hindrances on industrial and agricultural commodities.



The two sides stressed on the importance of enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and the need of exchanging expertise and experiment in the field of planning, statistics and development of services sectors. Sheikha Lubna called for establishment of a UAE commercial centre in Singapore to promote for the available investment opportunities in the UAE.



For his part, the Singaporean minister expressed his country's keenness in boosting economic, investment, educational and health cooperation between the two countries. The two countries have signed last March, during Sheikha Lubna's visit to Singapore an agreement on economic, trade and technical cooperation aimed at paving the way for free trade negotiations between the two countries.
