Lubna Al Qasimi receives Luxembourg Crown Prince

UAE Foreign Trade Minister Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi has received Prince Guillaume, Crown Prince of Luxembourg, who is currently visiting the UAE to attend World Future Energy Summit, being held in Abu Dhabi.

UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade said yesterday in a statement that the two sides discussed during the meeting held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) attended by Minister of Economy and Trade of Luxembourg Jean Kriek, ways to upgrade the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the areas of trade and investment.

Sheikha Lubna stressed that the UAE's strategy aims at diversification of economy to keep pace with the international changes. She added that the UAE has managed to reduce dependence on oil by increasing contribution of non oil sectors to Gross Domestic Product by 71 per cent in 2009.

The UAE minister cited the renewable energy sector as one of the new sectors that play vital role in boosting the national economy's diversification. She invited Luxembourg's companies to invest in the UAE.

For his part, Luxembourg Crown Prince expressed his pleasure about visiting the UAE to explore the economic developments being experienced by the UAE. Meanwhile, the Luxembourg minister stressed the importance of boosting communication between businesspersons in the two countries to benefit from business opportunities in both countries.

Non oil trade exchange between the UAE and Luxembourg stood at US$68 million, of which US$17 million were UAE exports. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
