Lubna receives PM of Eastern Cape

Economy Minister Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid al Qasimi received in Abu Dhabi yesterday Nosimo Balindletla, Prime Minister of the South African Province of Eastern Cape and her accompanying delegation. Sheikha Lubna discussed with Balindletla ways to boost bilateral cooperation in economic and investment fields. They also reviewed investment opportunities offered in the two countries in the sectors of industry, telecommunications and trade.

Sheikha Lubna said that UAE's economy has witnessed a significant growth, adding that the country's GDP increased by 23.4 percent in 2006 to reach Dh 599 billion. Non-oil sector's contribution in the GDP reached 62.5%. She urged businesses in South Africa to benefit from the huge incentives offered to investors in the UAE and from the perfect climate for investments.

Balindletla praised the progress made by the UAE in all fields. She also expressed her country's desire to enhance commercial and economic cooperation with the UAE. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
