Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Madfa, Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Environment Agency (FEA) has praised the efforts of President H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development. Madfa said in statement on the sidelines of the of the Second Environment Exhibition and Conference that the keenness of President Sheikh Zayed has made it possible for the developmental policies of the country to be modelled to environmental protection.

It also led to enactment of laws to control various activities in the country, he said. Madfa stressed that the country's commitment to environmental protection could be gauged from the performance of the country's oil and gas sector which, he said, had introduced the latest technology so as to protect the environment. "Despite the pivotal role of this sector in the country's economy over the last 30 years, it remained environment-friendly and operated in accordance with international standards” he said.
