Malian President receives Abdullah bin Zayed

Bamako - President Amadou Toumani Toure of Mali Monday evening received Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who arrived earlier in Mali as part of his tour of a number of African countries.

Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to the Malian President greetings from President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and their wishes for more progress and prosperity for Mali and its people.

Sheikh Abdullah said his visit was part of the UAE's policy of maintaining close contact with a number of friendly countries and to boost relations of cooperation and friendship between the UAE and Mali.

He thanked the Malian President for his efforts in pushing forward development programmes in his country. He expressed deep appreciation on the level of bilateral relations between the UAE and Mali and his hope that these ties would be boosted to cover various areas.

The Malian President, for his side, praised the UAE for achieving rapid and great development. He described the UAE as the best model worth emulating in the world. He praised the wise policies of President Khalifa.

President Toure welcomed Sheikh Abdullah's visit to Mali and expressed the hope that the visit would further boost relations of trade and investment by encouraging UAE capital and private sector flow to Mali.

During the meeting, they reviewed relations of cooperation between the two countries in the areas of economy, encouraging UAE private sector and businessmen investment in Mali, investment opportunities in the West African country and the development role being played by the UAE in African countries, particularly in the areas of education, health and infrastructure.– Emirates News Agency, WAM
