Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Director General of the President's Office, inaugurated here today at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre, the Exhibition and Conference on Environment and Energy 2003, being held under the patronage of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. A large number of Arab ministers in charge of environment and energy and Arab and foreign experts from across, as well as specialist international companies are taking part in this event, which is the biggest event of its kind in the Middle East.

Saeed Saif bin Jabr Al Suweidi, Chairman of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, FCCI, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ADCCI, and Deputy Board Chairman of the General Exhibitions Corporation, GEC, delivered a speech on behalf of Lt. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces and GEC Board Chairman, during which he welcomed the participants of the second session of the exhibition, following the great success achieved by the first session of the exhibition and conference in 2001.

'The idea of this exhibition and conference comes as a result of great need of the countries of the region for progress in these two fields because of the environmental problems, which has effects at the individual, local, regional and international levels. This fact requires fundamental solutions,” he said. 'The UAE, inspired by President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan's far-sighted perspectives, gives full attention to environment issues,' he added.
