Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, has urged the National Elections Committee to alert citizens to their national duties and constitutional rights in order to enhance political participation and ensure a successful elections exercise.

During a meeting in Abu Dhabi yesterday with the chairman and members of the Committee, Sheikh Mansour was briefed on the Committee's action programme, procedures and preparations for elections.

Sheikh Mansour underlined the need for setting forth appropriate control measures to ensure a sound election exercise with wide public participation. He urged the Committee to work proactively with all community segments and Government institutions to ensure the success of the elections process, describing it as a milestone in the political history of the UAE. He emphasized the instrumental role of the media in highlighting political and social reform. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
