Minister of Labour endorses issuance of free work permits to the shopping malls in Dubai during Eid

Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour, has issued a decision to allow the issuance of temporary work permit free of charge to the shopping malls in the Emirate of Dubai to enable them recruit additional workers for one month.

The move comes in line with the directives by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on holding of the entertainment sessions and family recreation during Eid in Dubai, where the shopping malls will be open round the clock.

Ghobash said in a statement yesterday that chance will be given to the targeted firms to recruit temporary labour for only period of one month in the UAE, indicating that their working hours will be lesser compared to their peers in the same firms.

He added that those entitled to the temporary work include, the registered labour who hold the valid labour cards, those on sponsorship of guardians, such as women not less than 18, husbands of Emirati women, sons and daughters of Emirati women, students of age group not less than 18, and government employees provided consent of their institutions. The work permits will not be issued to those above 65. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
