The UAE Ministry of Development for Government Sector, created to boost government efficiency and productivity, will today announce the progress made on one of its first major undertakings: the construction of a comprehensive employment structure for all UAE federal ministries.

The Ministry, newly created in last year's Cabinet reshuffle, will share the details of the program with members of the civil service at a special workshop at 10:00 am today at the Le Meridien Abu Dhabi. The new employment structure will include job profiles and classification for all levels of ministry staffing, recruitment and advancement strategies, the establishment of an official cost-of-living index and a pay and grade scale as well as best practices in interviewing and measuring the value of work experience and higher education.

Dr. Ali Bin Obood, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Development for Government Sector, said the project is a big step forward for federal government operations. "The re-organized employment structure will help shape a federal government that can keep pace with the UAE's rapid development," he said. The five-phase employment structure is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2007. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
