The Ministry of Health launched yesterday the H1N1 vaccination campaign in the northern emirates. Dr. Mahmoud Fikri, Executive Director of Health Policies, Ministry of Health, said about 15 preventive health centres will administer the vaccines in Dubai, Sharjah and other northern emirates.
'The vaccination will be optional for all but mandatory for pilgrims,” he said.
Fikri, who also chairs the Technical Committee for Combating H1N1 virus, added that the UAE was among the first 20 countries worldwide to receive the vaccine. About 50 million doses were delivered to these countries out of 3 billion doses produced so far but not enough to half population of the world. The Ministry is conducting workshops to health professionals on the best method to administer the vaccine to various categories. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
