CASABLANCA: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, discussed with His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco regional and international issues of common interest and ways to support and develop the special fraternal relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco in various fields.

This followed a ceremonial reception that HM King Mohammed VI held to HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Royal Palace in Casablanca.

The meeting started with HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan conveying the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to King Mohammed VI and his wishes of progress and prosperity to the Kingdom of Morocco and its people.

The two sides discussed the fraternal ties between the UAE and Morocco and their continuous growth in different fields for the benefit of the joint interest of both nations, thanks to the full support of the leaderships of both countries.

The meeting also touched on bilateral political, economic and developmental efforts and underscored the need to expand and diversify them as well as to encourage and support joint initiatives and partnerships that serve the aspirations of both nations.

HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed that the relations between the UAE and Kingdom of Morocco represent a unique example of bilateral relations to be followed by other countries. He added that these special relations were laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late King Hassan II, may their souls rest in peace, and have been cultivated by President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HM King Mohammed VI.

HH Sheikh Mohamed further added that his visit comes upon the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa to intensify consultations and exchanging of views with HM King Mohammed VI, and keep bilateral visits, meetings and increase cooperation with Morocco on all levels.

The visit reflects, Sheikh Mohamed indicated, a firm conviction in the UAE that consultations and exchanging of views with our brothers in the Kingdom of Morocco are vitally important for shaping common visions and coordinating standpoints that conform with the principles, goals and spirit of joint Arab action. Consultations also aim at discussing the circumstances and volatile situations in the Arab countries and the Middle East region as a whole and the many strategic challenges facing their people, including those of security and stability, particularly the threat of terrorist organisations, among the other threats faced by many Arab countries.

Sheikh Mohamed said that these challenges require concerted efforts and close cooperation to reach a solution and arrive at a formula that will preserve the interests of the Arab people and guarantee the unity, stability and sovereignty of their countries.

HH the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi reaffirmed that the bilateral relations between the two countries are further consolidated thanks to both leaderships sharing common political perspectives based on the importance of achieving security, stability and peace and promoting tolerance, moderation and coexistence among world nations, as well as eradicating extremism, intolerance, violence and terrorism as an essential way to achieve development and enhance international cooperation.

For his part, the King of Morocco welcomed the visit of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Morocco, and asked him to convey his regards and best wishes to President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and to the UAE people, expressing his pleasure at the high level of fraternal bilateral relations between the two nations.

The two sides reiterated that the fraternal bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the UAE are solid and genuine and serve joint efforts in the context of cooperation, solidarity and mutual respect.

HH the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and HM the King of Morocco exchanged friendly talks that reflected the solid fraternal relations between the two countries. Both sides expressed their pride at the historic relations that bind the two nations together and reaffirmed the importance of enhancing them in all fields to serve their common interests.

The meeting also discussed the overall events and developments on the Arab, regional and international levels and underscored the importance of exerting all efforts to achieve peace, security and stability in the region.

They also indicated that coordination and exchanging of views regarding the Arab region are continuous until effective solutions are found for the crises and challenges facing the region on the security, political, economic and developmental levels. The two sides also stressed that combating extremism and terrorist organisations requires a clear and comprehensive strategy that is effective and capable of confronting advocates of violence and terrorism, and taking a decisive, deterrent action against extremism on all economic, political, educational or ideological levels. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
