His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has emphasised that the UAE's charitable and humanitarian work is a legacy and a deep-rooted approach in the country, which enjoys a very rich record of such initiatives since the era of the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Mohamed said that the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) translates the meaning of charity and humanitarian work in reality through its programmes, activities and services provided to the needy countries and peoples, and added that this approach is implemented and followed up on the initiative of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Mohamed made these remarks while receiving the ERC delegation led by Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the ERC's Board of Directors, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Red Crescent, at Al-Bahar Palace.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince added that Emiratis are renowned for their generosity and distinguished and valuable initiatives, as well as their noble and charitable work in the country that has promoted its humanitarian role in various international arenas.

He also pointed out that the charitable work reflects the generosity and noble values of UAE citizens in spreading love and peace.

Sheikh Mohamed said that the UAE's presence in Yemen is not new, but it has been through a long history and joint ties with Yemenis to establish charitable and humanitarian programmes. He also reiterated that the country will spare no efforts to enhance its presence and role in the Yemeni arena and shoulder its responsibilities towards the Yemenis without discrimination, while describing the ERC as the ambassador of the UAE people, which provides aid and support to the underprivileged and affected people in various regions and arenas.

He also noted that despite the difficult conditions and challenges faced by the authorities in Yemen, great and effective efforts are being exerted, and praised the ERC's successes in the implementation of many programmes and development projects in a short time. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395286135821.html
