RABAT: The visit to be made by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to Morocco on Tuesday on invitation by His Majesty King Mohammed VI represents a major milestone in the strategic relations between the two brotherly countries, UAE Ambassador to Rabat Al Asri Saeed Al Dhaheri has said.

In a statement made yesterday, Al Dhaheri said that high on the visit's agenda are signing of several agreements between the two countries, opening of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan hospital in Casablanca, Africa Fertilisers Plant and Jorf Lasfar water desalination plant in Al Jadida province.

He said the Emirati investments in Morocco accounted for US$ 1.3 billion, while 2014 saw UAE's Etisalat buying 53 percent stake in Maroc Telecom at a value of 4.2 billion Euros. The same year also witnessed completion of new power plants for Jorf Lasfar Energy Company, owned by the UAE's Taqa.

He noted that in 2014, the UAE became the first investor in Casablanca Stock Exchange. It also contributed US$ 1.25 billion in the 5 billion grant offered by GCC countries to boost Morocco's economic and social development. He also referred to the numerous healthcare and other developmental projects in Morocco undertaken by the UAE.

Al Dhaheri praised Sheikh Mohamed's generous support of US$ 100 million to Morocco's national human development initiative and his US$ 10 million grant to the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
