His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met at the Atlantis with leaders and representatives of local, Arab and foreign media organisations.
The gathering was attended by Dubai Crown Prince Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Foreign Minister & Chairman of National Media Council His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The event was organised by Dubai Government Media Office (DGMO) as part of its initiative to maintain communication and connections with all media organisations and news agencies and enhance personal and professional relations between DGMO and media representatives.
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed all media representatives and expressed his happiness about this meeting that reflects Ramadan spirituals and manifests UAE society s traditions and culture.
Sheikh Mohammed, Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Abdullah joined their guest to by Al Maghreb prayer asking Almighty God to bless the Muslim Nations and accept their prayers and fasting.
After Al Maghreb prayers, Sheikh Mohammed attended the Iftar banquet hosted by DGMO in honour of his guests.
Sheikh Mohammed accompanied by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, and His Highness Sheikh Majed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Foundation, attended a casual meeting with media leaders and representatives.
In his discussions with the media personalities, Sheikh Mohammed touched on the facilities made available to journalists to carry out their duty of spreading messages of fairness and objectivity, informing the public and defending human rights and human dignity.
Sheikh Mohammed said he was optimistic that the UAE will succeed in its bid to host World Expo 2020. He renewed confidence in the higher committee Higher Committee on Hosting the World Expo 2020, thanks to the support given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other concerned authorities.
On economy and financial crisis, Sheikh Mohammed said: ‘This crisis is behind us now. Our country and our institutions managed to ride out the global financial crisis.'
Reflecting on the current developments in the Arab arena, Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE wishes peace to Arab countries and people without wars and blood sheds.
