Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received in Dubai yesterday the Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and the delegation accompanying him.

At a meeting held at the Zabeel Palace, in the presence of Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the two premiers reviewed the bilateral relations between UAE and Malaysia and discussed ways for enhancing them, especially in the fields of tourism, finance and Islamic banking in public and private sectors.

The two leaders held the view that this could be achieved through extending new bridges of cooperation in the related fields.

The talks also explored the idea of evolving a mechanism for reactivating the world economy from the recession brought about by the global financial crisis.

The two leaders of governments equally stressed in their talks the need for unifying the efforts and energies in the Islamic countries for the sake of regaining the growth of their respective economies in a gradual and steady way.

They also noted that the Islamic countries have the capability for overcoming this phase of economic slump through harnessing their energies, intellectual powers, material resources and a joint vision.

Sheikh Mohammed hosted a banquet lunch in honour of the Malaysian Premier and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting and the banquet was also attended by Chairman of the Dubai Authority of Culture and Arts HH Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a number of ministers and senior state officials, the UAE ambassador to Malaysia Nasser Salman Al Aboudi and the Malaysian ambassador to UAE Dato Yahia Abdul Jabbar.
