Mohammed Bin Rashid meets Chinese PM

Dalian, China - H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai held talks with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the end of his tour of China. They discussed a number of political, economic, regional and international issues and explored ways for strengthening the bilateral relations between UAE and China in various fields.

Wen Jiabao received Sheikh Mohammed at the government palace in Dalian and welcomed Sheikh Mohammed's visit to China, along with a high power delegation, and his keynote address on the first day of the World Economic Forum in Dalian.

The Chinese Premier expressed his happiness for meeting Sheikh Mohammed and said that it gave him an opportunity to exchange views and thoughts with Sheikh Mohammed on several political and economic issues of mutual interest.

Wen Jiabao said that the longstanding and distinctive relations between UAE and China are based on mutual trust and respect as well as joint interests, not only on the political and economic levels , but also in a variety of avenues like the flourishing trade between the two countries, the infrastructure building and the Chinese labour.

Sheikh Mohammed told the Chinese Premier that he was happy to accept the invitation to take part in the World Economic Forum as it is convened in a friendly country. He added that he also considered it a great opportunity to meet the Chinese leaders and listen to their views on a number of political, economic and technological issues, especially those related to Middle East and other regions of crisis in the world.

Sheikh Mohammed thanked Wen Jiabao for the warm welcome extended to him and the accompanying delegation, and expressed his optimism for a promising future for the centuries old relations between UAE and China.

The UAE's Premier hailed the great renaissance witnessed by China in various fields and praised the wise policies of China towards the economic and political issues of the world, as well as the cultural openness towards other civilizations, especially the Middle Eastern societies.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of the role of the People's Republic of China in finding just solutions to several political, economic and humanitarian issues around the world, specially indicating that China stands with the Arabs in their just issues.

The meeting was attended by President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, UAE Minister of Economy Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Executive Chairman of Dubai's Ports and Customs Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, UAE's Ambassador to China Mohammed Rashid Al Bot and a number of other senor officials.
