The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment has provided 340 tonnes in emergency food aid to Yemenis to help alleviate their suffering and improve their humanitarian conditions ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The move follows directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and orders from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to provide emergency food and medical aid to the brotherly people of Yemen who are suffering from acute shortage of food and medicine as a result of the unfortunate events in the country.

Ibrahim Bu Melha, Dubai Ruler's Advisor for Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs and deputy chairman of the board of trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, said the emergency aid for Yemen included 135 tonnes of rice, 135 tonnes of sugar and 68 tonnes of cooking oil, and will be shipped by sea to deliver them to more than 13,500 beneficiary families as soon as possible.

He noted that the Establishment works under the umbrella of the Emirati joint committee to help Yemen along with other humanitarian agencies.

Bu Melha also noted that following field surveys in Yemen, the humanitarian efforts will focus on meeting food and medical needs. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395281931414.html
