Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation sends medicine to Iraq

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Foundation yesterday sent a planeload of medicine and other aid materials to Iraqis in the northern city of Mosul. A delegation comprising of members from three charity organisations accompanied the relief material. Led by Abdul Rahman bin Subeh of the foundation the delegation members included Salim Ahmed Al Nuaimi, head of the Ajman-based charity organisation, and Saif Mohammed Al Otor, Director of Fujairah Charity organisation.



The C-130 plane of Dubai Police was carrying five tonnes of antibiotics for a maternity hospital in Mosul and 150 computers for the Mosul University in addition to other materials. Officials from the university, the hospital in addition to local charity delegates were at the airport to receive the relief materials. The foundation sent last month 15 tonnes of medicine to the country. It has also distributed food to the needy.



Meanwhile in Abu Dhabi, 12 trucks loaded with relief material departed for Iraq as part of assistance conducted by the UAE to Iraqi people. The relief material included 240 tonnes of foodstuff and garments donated by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA). Relief plane No 19 will depart for Iraq tomorrow, as part of the air bridge conducted by the RCA to help the Iraqi people. The plane carrying relief aid will be accompanied by Abdulla Salem Al Dhahiry, director of the RCA Supply and Emergency Office. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
