Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MRMHCE) spent last year more than Dh48.3 billion on humanitarian and charity works in the UAE, an increase of 95 per cent from the previous year.

In addition to the usual and regular financial aid, the MRMHCE paid Dh10 million to provide 850 needy people with magnetic cards that hold personal information and can be used to buy food stuff and commodities from cooperative societies in Dubai.

The establishment also continued its students' aid programme, the first of its kind in the UAE, through which it offered free laptops to 310 students from Higher Colleges of Technology at the cost of Dh3.5 million. Dh18 billion was spent on medical aid, including treatment of heart patients and children suffering from thalassemia. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
