Mohammed bin Rashid: "Consent and satisfaction of people top our priorities"

The Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said the UAE has been faring well in the footsteps of the founding fathers, noting that the achievements on the ground were fruits of strenuous work and the strategic planning based on well-articulated objectives and framework.

"I 'm happy about future of our country. I see cohesion among Emiratis under the logo of Union," Sheikh Mohammed told the media persons and writers at the Dubai Government Media Office yesterday.

He appreciated the role being played by the UAE media, citing its contribution to highlight the achievements attained by the UAE. He added that Emiratis took the initiative to accomplish huge developmental projects and to continue the developmental process, whose foundation was set by the founding fathers - the torch picked up by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and followed up by His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Addressing the media persons, Sheikh Mohammed said, "I'm proud about you and for keeping pace with the rapid progress", referring to great responsibility on the shoulders of media to serve the community and highlight the achievements as well.

Regarding the role of media on supporting and monitoring the performance of government, he said, the media detects mistakes and shortages and alert the authorities about them, urging the media to establish communications with officials to get accurate and the first hand information.

Sheikh Mohammed attributed his optimism about future to the strength of the UAE Union and great confidence in Emirati people. He added that the UAE has just celebrated Flag Day and will mark soon the National Day to reflect on the achievements.

About continuous performance progress at the government sectors whether at the local or federal level, he said, "Consent and satisfaction of people are the top priorities we work for," adding that the smart city initiative marks the beginning of a new era, where services will be more accessible round the clock.

Sheikh Mohammed said a team leader should know abilities of his team to ensure better employment of their skills.

He expressed optimism about chances of the UAE to win hosting of Expo 2020 in Dubai, "We are optimistic and have whatever it takes to host the world event." Sheikh Mohammed said Dubai has great economic capacities, being a portal for world trade, citing seaports and world class airports with huge capacities.

On the events in some Arab countries, Sheikh Mohammed hoped Syria would emerge from its current standoff, expressing confidence in Egypt's ability to overcome challenges to restore security and stability.
