A humanitarian campaign to relieve the Iraqi people is to be launched today on the directives of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister. The campaign, to be launched under the theme 'Our people in Iraq", is to raise funds through telephone, fax and the internet, according to Ibrahim Bu Melhah, Deputy Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation. " The Foundation is currently making arrangements to send foodstuff and other relief aid to our brothers in Iraq," Bu Melhah said. He pointed out that the Foundation had stored about 500 tonnes of the Iraqi dates in a number of mosques in Iraq, of which 300 tonnes were distributed during the past period.
