Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed yesterday that the basic development of education is an essential part of Vision 2021 and is a national necessity for sustainable development as the road towards a better future for the UAE begins from the school.

He asserted that the government will continue to move forward on the same principle the UAE followed during the last forty years proving its success. It is the principle of investing in the human factor and its development, as it represents the most valuable wealth the nation owns and constitutes both the objective and the means of development, explained Sheikh Mohammed.

His Highness was speaking at the launch of the 'Mohammed Bin Rashid Initiative for smart Learning', which will cover all the schools across the country. The initiative to cost over one billion Dirhams will be implemented over a period of five years.

The drive aims to create a new learning environment in schools, through introducing 'Smart Classes' in all schools, providing every pupil with a tablet PC and high speed 4G networks.

The initiative also envisages specialised training programs for teachers and new scientific support curricula to foster the original syllabi.

The project will be implemented through cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority as well as direct follow-up by the Prime Minister's office. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
