Mohammed bin Rashid lays wreath at Salvador Allende memorial in Santiago

Santiago: Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has laid a floral wreath at the memorial tomb of Salvador Allende, the late president of Chile who was killed on 11 September 1973 in a military coup which toppled down his government.

Upon arriving at the memorial where Allende was shot dead, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid inspected the guards of honour and the national anthems of UAE and Chile were played.

Salvador Allende, who ruled Chile from 4 November 1970 to 11 September 1973, was a Chilean physician and politician, known as the first Marxist to become president of a Latin American country through open democratic elections. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
