Mohammed bin Rashid meets Mubarak

Egyptian President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak arrived in Dubai yesterday as part of a fraternal visit to the UAE. He was received at the Dubai International Airport by Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Sheikh Mohammed accompanied President Mubarak on a motorcade tour of Dubai which passed through the Sheikh Zayed Road before proceeding to Zabeel Palace.

President Mubarak and Sheikh Mohammed held a meeting which was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, national security advisor, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mayed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, minister of state for cabinet affairs, members of the delegation accompanying the Egyptian President, Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander General of Dubai Police, Ahmed Ali Nasser Al Mail Al Za'abi, UAE ambassador to Egypt and Mohammed Saad Obaid, Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE.

President Mubarak and Sheikh Mohammed held a round of talks during which they exchanged views on fraternal relations between the two countries, as well as ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the economic, commercial and tourism fields. Sheikh Mohammed said that the UAE was always ready to put its potentials in the services of Arab interest and for achieving Arab economic integration. They also discussed current developments in the Arab world and efforts to achieve peace in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon.

President Mubarak and Sheikh Mohammed also attended presentations on the investments to be set in Egypt by a number of Dubai-based companies, including four projects to be developed in Cairo by Sama Properties, the investment arm of Dubai Holding. The projects will provide four million job opportunities to Egyptian and Arab youth.

They also attended another presentation on Emaar Properties' projects in Egypt, the total value of which is estimated at 43 billion Egyptian Pounds. The projects entail construction of houses, hotels, resorts, shopping malls and mixed-use developments. Dubai Port World (DPW) gave a presentation about its international portfolio of over 50 ports and terminals around the world. The presentation also touched on its proposal to buy the Ain Al Sukhna terminal in Egypt at a total cost of US$780 million. Nakheel, one of the world's largest development companies showcased its current projects including the Palms, the Water Front and the World.

President Mubarak and Sheikh Mohammed reviewed Dubai's development plans. Sheikh Mohammed said that each country should strive to develop its infrastructure and resources to build a robust economy and to provide job opportunities and decent living standards to its citizens. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
