Mohammed bin Rashid receives Presidents of Liberia and Malawi

Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Thursday received at Marmoum Resthouse President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia and her accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Mohammed and President Sirleaf explored the possibilities of opening up avenues of bilateral communication and finding appropriate means to bolster joint cooperation in various fields to serve mutual interests, notably in area of joint investment given the huge mineral wealth Liberia holds.

They also discussed the general political, economic, health and educational conditions in Africa, stressing the importance of political and security stability in the African countries as an essential and important step for sustainable economic and social development.

The Liberian president affirmed her country's interest to benefit from Dubai's experiment in managing its ports and establishing joint investment.

Later, Sheikh Mohammed welcomed President of Malawi Joyce Banda and discussed with her bilateral ties and prospects of building common framework for boosting trade and investment relations that serve interest of the two countries and their people.

President Banda praised the tremendous steps the UAE has taken towards sustainable development under the wise vision, political and social stability and harmony between the leadership and people.

She briefed Sheikh Mohammed on her country's geographical and natural potentials which could be used for building an attractive tourism industry. She also stated her country's need for developing its infrastructure, expressing her desire of benefiting from UAE assistance in this respect.

Sheikh Mohammed affirmed to the presidents of Liberia and Malawi that the UAE extends its hand for cooperation with all countries out of its firm belief in interaction and cooperation among nations for serving regional and international stability and peace and realising welfare to their people, especially those of the third world. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
