Mohammed bin Rashid visits GITEX Week 2014

Vice President and Prime Minister of U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has toured the venue of GITEX Technology Week 2014 at Dubai World Trade Centre, DWTC.

GITEX Technology Week is among the world's biggest information and communication technology, ICT, shows.

Sheikh Mohammed along with H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inspected platforms of international companies specialised in Information technology "IT' " Hardosoft ware", which has participated strongly in this years' event.

This year's edition is considered the biggest in the number of exhibitors and land area of the exhibition, which reached 100,000 square meters. It also witnessed the participation of 37,000 government companies and entities from 70 countries, including the U.A.E..

Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation toured Microsoft Corporation Pavilion, Software, (a leading developer of personal-computer software systems and applications), and got acquainted with "NEXT CITY' device which would be used for the first time in the middle East, and will operate in a smart technology in a helicopter.

The device could be connected with government departments and meets the needs of governments and individuals as well as ensuring information for emergency, ambulance and rescue patients departments.

Then, Sheikh Mohammed toured INTEL Company's pavilion, which is specialised in the protection of internet webs from piracy and virus and other issues and was briefed on the service levels, being provided in the U.A.E. in general and Dubai in particular.

Sheikh Mohammed also toured "SAP " the Swedish company and was briefed on its provided smart services for clients in sports sector in general.

He also got familiarised on "Blackberry" Device and its options and functions, which are being exhibited for the first time worldwide.

Sheikh Mohammed also stopped at the stands of 'Dubai Smart City', Panasonic, Saudi Telecom, Du, Ericsson, ZTE, Cisco, Kaspersky and LG. He also visited the pavilons of the Abu Dhabi e-government, the Dubai Residency Department, Dubai Police and Dubai Health Authority.

Following the tour, Sheikh Mohammed said 'Gitex' had become a key meeting place for international hi-tech companies, as well as national government organisations and individuals to share knowledge and exchange expertise. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
