Mohammed bin Zayed chairs Executive Council meeting

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, yesterday presided over the Council's weekly regular meeting.



The meeting discussed a number of issues tabled by local government authorities and reviewed the progress of work in some government projects.



The Council discussed the role of the governance system in enhancing strategic planning and government performance, and creating an environment characterised by efficiency, integrity, transparency, and fairness.



The Council reviewed a memorandum by the Department of Economy on the general budget and recurrent expenses budget for 2006, and approved the proposed general budget and the recurrent expenses budget for 2007.



Having reviewed a memorandum by the Tourism Development and Investment Company, the Council gave the go-ahead for construction of Al Hudairiyat Bridge linking Saeed bin Tahnoon street with Al Hudairiyat Island, and earmarked the necessary funds for the project.



Based on a memorandum by Abu Dhabi Education Council, the Council approved the operating budget for the UAE National Centre for Development.



The Council approved a memorandum by the Department of Municipalities and Agriculture for road projects in Mohammed bin Zayed City, phase 4/east (contract number 953-4-1), south (contract number 953/4-2" and contract number 953/4-3.



It also endorsed a memorandum by Abu Dhabi Health Services General Authority recommending allocation of additional funds in 2006 budget to offset the budget deficit of Khalifa Medical Centre, Al Rahba, Tuam and Al Wajan Hospitals, and Al Khaleej and Al Bateen Clinics.



It also agreed to allocate budgetary funds for health information systems and primary health clinics in Khalifa "A" City, Bani Yas, Al Samha, Bain Al Jisrain and Al Moajaie. The Council also examined progress of work in clinics under construction in the Emirate. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
