General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, yesterday presided over the council's ordinary meeting, held here. The council approved the appointment of a consultant to study a project to construct Medinat Zayed Ghiyathi paved road and allocation of the project's estimated cost.

It has agreed to issue payments to the consultants of the second phase of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The council also approved awarding of packages in the third phase of Al Shamkha roads construction and maintenance, as well as the Western Region's sewerage networks in the cities of Al Mirfa, Liwa and Medinat Zayed.

The council approved a proposal by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) to form a permanent committee to oversee organisation of Al Ain Aerobatics Show as an event which helps in the development of tourism industry and attracts visitors to the emirate's tourist attractions. It reviewed topics on the agenda and took appropriate action on them.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed urged employees at the government departments to commit themselves to best professional practices and to work hard towards improving performance standards at their respective departments.

Sheikh Mohammed's call emanated from his keenness to facilitate and provide best services to the citizens and residents and to cut bureaucracy and red tape levels within those departments. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
