Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, opened yesterday the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2008 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The event, which will continue from Nov. 3- 6, is sponsored by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Over 1, 500 Companies operating in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors, representing 66 countries, are taking place at ADIPEC.
Sheikh Mohammed said the host of ADIPEC 2008 in Abu Dhabi "reflects keen interest of the country in providing sustainable energy, which is a strategic issue in the world's agenda in this century".
He said in a statement on the opening of the ADIPEC 2008 that "this world event is an opportunity to present the Abu Dhabi vision on energy sector until 2030. It is another chance to highlight the huge efforts being exerted to make Abu Dhabi a world hub for clean energy in line with a commitment to world dialogue on sources and technologies of future energy".
Sheikh Mohammed noted that the ADIPEC is world forum for exchanging views and information, which are extremely essential in strategic planning, research and development in the fields of oil, gas and energy in general. It is also a chance to come up with unanimous resolutions on current and future vision about sources and technologies of future energy in the light of participation of international experts and oil and gas industry leaders in the world at the ADIPEC.
He welcomed the delegates who will mull over the nature of potential options in current and future of energy, adding that the brainstorming could help effectively in the strategic planning in the field of energy.
Present at the event were UAE Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, HE Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, head of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, other Sheikhs, ministers, high ranking officials, chief executives and representatives of major oil and gas companies. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
