Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Tuesday evening launched the new institutional identity of the Zayed Centre for Comprehensive Welfare, an affiliate of the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs '&' Minor Affairs.

The launching ceremony attracted a large number of dignitaries, including Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Finance, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a number of officials, heads of local departments and agencies.

In a statement, Sheikh Mohammed said the launch of the new identity came to crown the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, adding that it also reflects Sheikh Khalifa's unstinting support for the Centre to boost its role in the area of family welfare and humanitarian services.

He noted that the new identity of the centre will, henceforth, uplift the centre's status to international standards while meeting the needs and interest of the sons and daughters of the UAE.

He commended the Centre for living up to its social responsibilities, including sheltering and caring for children deprived of family care. "This is an effort and initiative that will continue to win our support and assistance," he said and expressed the hope that the Centre would continue with its good works.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the heritage exhibition and tent erected on the fringe of the ceremony, where he was briefed about the exhibits on show by a number of social institutions, including the Global Children's Village, the Zayed Centre for Comprehensive Welfare, the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs '&' Minor Affairs and the Emirates Foundation. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
