Mohammed bin Zayed meets David Cameron

His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday met at Emirates Palace the British Prime Minister David Cameron and the delegation accompanying him.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the British Prime Minister and discussed with him the historic relations between the two countries based on friendship, mutual respect and interest.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi stressed keenness of the U.A.E. led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on developing the relations with Britain, supporting joint work with partners and friends and looking forward to better future relations at all levels. He added that the visit of the British Prime Minister to the U.A.E. comes within the framework of strengthening the distinguished relations and cooperation and enhancing coordination of positions regarding the regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Sheikh Mohamed noted that the two countries have been exchanging visits at the high profile levels to conduct consultations, referring to the historic visit of the U.A.E. President to London, which has further bolstered the relations and cooperation ties between the two countries.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi commended the U.K.' s position on backing Dubai's bid to host World Expo 2020, and its call for the friendly countries to support the U.A.E. 's candidature to host the international event.

He thanked the British government over its recent visa waiver scheme for Emiratis with effect from early next year, adding that the decision reflects mutual confidence and special relations between the two countries, as well as the resolve to continue work to ease transport for the citizens so to benefit from tourist, economic potentials of both countries.

The two sides explored the growth and development of the relations in both sides in different fields, as well as their resolve to strengthen joint coordination and expansion of partnerships, especially in the areas of economy, investment, social, culture and education, as well as exchange of expertise in different fields.

They also tackled the latest developments, and the regional and international initiatives that could safeguard the regional security and stability.

For his part, the British Prime Minister stressed keenness of his country on strengthening the bilateral relations with the UAE, noting that the British government takes interest in the relations with the UAE given its distinguished status in all fields. He underlined that there was a need to harness potentials to benefit from huge opportunities in all fields between the two countries.

Cameron commended the tolerance, coexistence and openness being enjoyed by the UAE.

The Prime Minister enjoyed a positive and productive working dinner with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, this evening.

They agreed that the bilateral relationship continues to grow strongly and they anticipated good news in the coming days in the civil aerospace sector, sustaining jobs and bringing growth to the UK.

They reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a strong and deepening strategic defence partnership, which they believe should be completed shortly. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
