General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received in Abu Dhabi yesterday Chiefs of Staff of the GCC countries who took part in a symposium held at the sidelines of the joint military exercises dubbed Hasm Al Uqban 2008. Sheikh Mohammed said such regular meetings between military commanders represent a step forward to achieve integration among the GCC armed forces, to draw their joint defence strategy and to enhance capabilities for deterring any aggression.

"The current changes and challenges in both regional and international arenas necessitate studying potential risks and putting in place appropriate measures to deal with any crisis, as well as laying foundation for a military strategy that enhances collective security in the region and in the world," Sheikh Mohammed said. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
