Mohammed bin Zayed receives Japanese economy minister

General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received here this evening the visiting Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade, '&' Industry Akihiro Ohata and his accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the Japanese minister and welcomed the significant growth witnessed in the bilateral ties. He added that UAE and Japan enjoy strong cooperation, particularly in the energy fields.

"We look forward to furthering our cooperation in the different spheres such as education, industry, technology, renewable energy, economy and investments," he said.

Sheikh Mohammed also welcomed yesterday's launching of the Abu Dhabi - Japan Economic Council, saying it was a step forward to further boost economic relations and trade exchange between the two countries.

Sheikh Mohammed and Ohata discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as issues of mutual interest.

For his part, Ohata said he was pleased over his visit to the UAE and his meeting with Sheikh Mohammed. He praised the progress witnessed by the UAE in all fields. He also said that his country was keen on bolstering cooperation with the UAE and exploring opportunities for joint investments in different domains. Ohata described setting up of the Abu Dhabi - Japan Economic Council as a "key element in strengthening economic cooperation, and facilitating technology transfer and exchange of expertise." The meeting was attended by Nasser Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic development, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Tatsuo Watanabe, Ambassador of Japan. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
