Mohammed bin Zayed receives delegation of British MPs

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received yesterday evening at his Palace in Al Bateen a delegation of British Members of Parliament, currently on a visit to the country.



The delegation is led by Kevan Jones MP, a member of Britain's governing Labour Party, who is also the Chairman of the UAE -UK All-Party Parliamentary Group, and includes members from both the Labour and Conservative parties. Present at the meeting was Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.



Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the British MPs and praised the strong economic and political ties between the UAE and UK. He also affirmed the leadership's keenness to further boost relations between the two countries.



He presented an overview of the vision of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for comprehensive development and the efforts being made to turn it into a tangible reality and to shape a positive and bright future for the generations to come.



Sheikh Mohammed also spoke about the major changes witnessed in the UAE, as well as the strategic plans for the next stage which focus mainly on improving education, boosting the efficiency of healthcare sector and developing human resources capabilities.



Also highlighted were the huge investment opportunities available in the UAE and the current plans to enhance the role of private sector as a main driver of the economy. Sheikh Mohammed stressed the need to exchange visits as a way to strengthen cooperation between the public and private entities in the two countries. The meeting also reviewed current regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual concern.



Kevan Jones hailed the progressive ties between the two countries and praised the vital role played by the UAE in international relations. He said that the delegation members were impressed with the progress made by the UAE under the wise leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.



The meeting was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Hussein Jassem Al Nowais, Member of the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development, Yousif Mana Al Otaiba, Director of International Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Edward Anthony Oakden, British Ambassador.
