Following a record breaking 50,841 nominations made for the Abu Dhabi Awards, the day has come to honour the citizens and residents of Abu Dhabi who have made a contribution to building a greater sense of community and social welfare within the Emirate.

The Awards are a result of the commitment of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to preserve the legacy of the nation's late father Sheikh Zayed. The ceremony itself will be presided over by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who will personally present each winner with their award.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the accomplishments of individuals who have silently volunteered their time to build and support the community of Abu Dhabi. This is a day on which will recognize and celebrate for the second year.

The ceremony will take place on the 12th December at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. All submitted nominations have been assessed individually by a nomination panel of senior government officials, whose work was then reviewed by the judging committee selected by Sheikh Mohammed.

The Abu Dhabi Awards Ceremony will take place at The Emirates Palace on the 12th of December and will be attended by Sheikhs, Ministers and VIPs from across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and will be aired on the Abu Dhabi and Emirates Television channels on the 13th December.

The Abu Dhabi Awards recognise and celebrate compassionate individuals who have volunteered their time to build a greater sense of community and social welfare within Abu Dhabi. The people of Abu Dhabi are given the chance to nominate those whose goodness knows no limits and in doing so share in their goodwill. In honouring people in this way, the Awards raise awareness of the value of such contributions and in turn encourage others to make similar contributions. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
