Mohammed bin Zayed visits Algeria

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived in Algiers yesterday for one-day visit, heading the high ranking economic and investment delegation, including representatives from Abu Dhabi emirate's public and private sectors.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed held talks with President Abdel-Aziz Bouteflika of Algeria.

The talks focused on ways to boost bilateral relations between the two countries, and explored avenues of economic cooperation between the Abu Dhabi and Algeria.

In the meeting, attended by Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, members of the delegation accompanying Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and senior Algerian officials, Sheikh Mohammed conveyed to President Bouteflika greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his wishes of progress and prosperity to the people of Algeria.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasised on the deep-rooted and special fraternal relations between the UAE and Algeria, founded on a strong mutual desire to reach the highest level of cooperation in all fields.

He also stressed the vital role of economy in further strengthening joint cooperation among Arab countries.

Bouteflika expressed satisfaction over the levels the two countries reached in their ties. He said that strengthening relations with the UAE was considered a top priority.

He praised the progress attained by the UAE in all fields and outlined the economic programme being implemented by Algeria to enhance development and growth. He also welcomed the steps taken by different Abu Dhabi Government's entities to strengthen cooperation with their Algerian counterparts.

Business group of the high level Abu Dhabi delegation accompanying Sheikh Mohammed earlier held extensive talks with different economic circles in Algeria to build a framework for initiatives, partnerships and joint ventures in vital sectors such as energy, property development, financial sector, banks, science, technology, industry, security and defence.

President Bouteflika hosted a luncheon in honour of Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation.

It was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abdul Qadir bin Saleh, Speaker of Algerian Umma Council, Ahmed Ouyahia, Algerian Prime Minister, Abdel Aziz Belkhadim, Algerian Minister of State '&' Personal Representative of the Head of State and senior officials.

The UAE delegation includes UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, HE Khaldoun bin Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, HH Nasser Ahmed Al Suwaidi, head of the Department of Planning and Economy and other senior officials.

Sheikh Mohammed was seen off at Houari Boumedienne International Airport by President Bouteflika and by senior Algerian officials. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
