Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence Lt. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reviewed in a meeting in Dubai yesterday the current Palestinian situation with the visiting Arab League Secretary General, Amr Mousa. Sheikh Mohammed and the Arab league chief discussed the current Palestinian situation, in view of the Israeli killings and destruction in the West Bank. The discussions also focused on the role which the international community, the United Nations and the Arab League could play in salvaging the peace process and protecting the Palestinian people from vicious Israeli policies, which observe no international norms and ethics. In a statement to the Emirates News Agency, Mousa painted a grim picture of the future of the peace process in the Middle East, particularly in the light of the current Israeli military escalation which, he said, had dashed any hopes for peace. Mousa underlined the need for Arab unity and solidarity, saying that it was crucial at this critical juncture in countering anti-Arab policies. Mousa, who is in the UAE to participate in the Arab Media Summit which will open in Dubai on Sunday , hailed the rapid development made by the UAE under the leadership of President H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The two-day Arab Summit will be inaugurated by the Dubai Crown Prince, while the Arab league chief will deliver the key-note address. More than 200 media personalities and other dignitaries from the Arab world and other countries will attend the summit, scheduled to discuss and debate perceptions and schisms between the Arab world and the West.
