Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company, will once again have a significant presence at this year's Dubai Airshow, the Middle East's leading aerospace event, held between 17th- 21st November at Dubai World Central.

Mubadala has recently combined its Aerospace, Communications Technology and Defence Services (ACTDS) business units to maximise the potential of their shared partnerships. The 21 businesses in the ACTDS portfolio incorporate international industry leaders and emerging domestic players with over 10,000 global employees. Together, these businesses contributed almost forty per cent of Mubadala's revenues in H1 2013.

Homaid Al Shemmari, Executive Director of Mubadala ACTDS, commented: "Seven years after taking its first steps into the industry, Mubadala is well positioned to become a key global aerospace player, delivering sustainable financial and social returns for Abu Dhabi. Our goal is to further develop our existing capabilities and market position to become a diversified global Tier 1 aerospace supplier focusing on airframes and engines in the commercial and military sectors.

"We have built our expertise in high growth areas and developed strong relationships with global OEMs, industry suppliers and airlines, as well as with international government stakeholders. These relationships are founded on Mubadala's clear commitment to support the sector's continued development in the UAE." "The Dubai Airshow is an important opportunity to demonstrate our continued progress, engage with our business partners and customers and to showcase the UAE. The country has become a global aerospace hub, one that offers significant geographical, operational and financial advantages to the major industry players." Mubadala will showcase 10 of its leading aerospace, communications technology and defence services-related subsidiary companies at the show, including Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT), Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC), Horizon International Flight Academy, Strata Manufacturing, Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park, Piaggio Aero, SR Technics, Sanad Aero Solutions, Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) and Bayanat for Mapping '&' Surveying Solutions (Bayanat).

With Emiratisation at the heart of their development strategies, the companies are committed to creating over 11,000 jobs for UAE Nationals. By offering unrivalled training and career opportunities, Mubadala is supporting the development of the next generation of Emirati scientists, engineers and technicians. These initiatives will be complemented by the development of Mubadala's Research and Development capabilities, which will have an annual spend of over US$10m by 2015 through collaborative projects with academic institutions and partnerships with OEMs. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
