Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala) yesterday unveiled the Mubadala Zone - an interactive, Ferrari-themed activity zone designed to provide all residents, especially families, with a great day of entertainment in the lead up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Mubadala Zone, which is open free of charge from October 16 to November 1 on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, will feature a range of activities and attractions for all ages including: - The Shell pit stop challenge to put your teamwork and coordination skills to the test by changing a tyre on a real Formula 1 Ferrari in a race against the clock - Reaction tests to measure your hand-eye coordination and speed - A raft of F1 simulators to put your driving skills to the test and experience first-hand life behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car - Live broadcasts of all the Formula 1 racing action including the Grande Premio Do Brasil from the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo from October 16 to Sunday 18 and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from October 30 - November 1 - The Ferrari F1 race car - The �Wear the Cap' stand where you can win your own Mubadala Ferrari cap The Mubadala Zone is part of a number of activities Mubadala is to ensure the wider community has the opportunity to be involved in all the excitement in the lead up to Abu Dhabi's first Grand Prix.
"Our mission as a company is to develop initiatives that deliver the best opportunities for Abu Dhabi's economic and social growth - now and in the future," said Sara Al Shorouqi, Senior Manager Marketing Communications, Mubadala Development Company. "Our partnership with Ferrari shares these same aims, and over the past four years it has helped Mubadala to advance its business goals." In 2005, Mubadala purchased five per cent stake in Ferrari. In 2007, Mubadala also extended its partnership with Ferrari to become a sponsor of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team, taking Mubadala and Abu Dhabi to a global audience.
The partnership with Ferrari has led to two further unique partnerships with Italian companies. In 2006, Mubadala acquired a 35% stake in Piaggio Aero Industries, an Italian aircraft manufacturer and maintenance company. This acquisition is an important step in the goal of creating a global aerospace hub for the Emirate. In 2007 Mubadala and the Poltrona Frau Group established a new joint venture, PF Emirates Interiors, specialists in interior design and Italian luxury furnishings.
In 2009 the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will mark the culmination of the Formula One season and in 2010 the first ever Ferrari Theme Park will also open on Yas Island, both helping to attract commercial investment, tourism and cultural activities to Abu Dhabi.
