MUSCAT - The media in the Sultanate of Oman has paid considerable attention to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to Oman. Sheikh Khalifa arrived yesterday in Muscat on a two-day fraternal visit.

All Omani, Arabic and English language dailies carried news of the visit and quoted the official statement issued by the Oman Royal Palace welcoming the UAE leader who was received by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed.

The Oman, in its editorial, entitled Welcome to the Best Successor to the Best Predecessor warmly welcomed Sheikh Khalifa, and talked of the unique relations binding the two countries throughout the past decades. The paper attributed this to the far-sightedness of leaders of both countries. "The Oman-UAE relations are based on mutual respect and reciprocal interests," the editorial said.

It described such relations as an example for other countries to follow. Al Watan said Oman and the UAE were the first to allow their nationals to move freely through the borders of the two countries, using only their identity cards. They were also the first ones to integrate water, electricity and communication services for cities on both sides of the border.

The paper added the visit was very significant, taking into account recent regional and international developments, and said exchange of views between the two leaders was important for the interests of the people. The paper highlighted economic and investment relations between the two countries. It called for the leaders to push for more progression for the prosperity of the people.
