The National Consultative Council, NCC, held in Abu Dhabi its 13th meeting of its second ordinary session of the 15th legislative chapter. During the meeting, which was presided over by its chairman, Abdullah Al Mas'ood, the Council made a number of recommendations, including a recommendation which calls for support for courts in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in the form of providing new building structures for the courts, establishing new departments and providing for them new cadres, including judges, assistant judges and administrators to ensure rapid disposal of court cases.

The Council also recommended that enough scholarships be made available for national youths who have successfully completed their secondary school education, to be admitted into the Sharia and Law faculty and to be employed to serve in the local judiciary after graduation from the university. The recommendation said that the ministry of justice, Islamic affairs and Awqaf, should be made to jointly supervise the scholarship scheme with the appropriate quarters.

The Council also recommended that electric poles should be distanced from residential areas in Al Ain or be converted to underground cables system to avoid any health hazards on public health and preserve the beauty of Al Ain city. The recommendation was made based on the reports of the council's special committee charged with conducting studies on the issue with the support of experts.

The Council listened to a report from the Abu Dhabi Executive Council in response to its recommendations on a number of issues, including issues on its meeting agenda. It decided that its next meeting, scheduled for June 28, will be the last meeting of the current session. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
