The board of the National Council of Tourism and Antiquities (NCTA) approved yesterday in its third meeting the final draft of the Archaeological Resources Protection Act as a preliminary step toward submitting it to the federal Cabinet.
Mohammed Khamis Al Muhairi, Director of NCTA, said the meeting had dedicated ample time of the meeting to review all articles of the bill and mechanisms of its implementation on the ground as well as its impact on conserving and protecting the UAE heritage to the next generation.
'The bill was enacted by a group of local experts of heritage, law and archaeological, he added.
Presided over by H.E. Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, the board discussed the World Tourism Organisation's negotiation letter on the renewal of the UAE's membership in the international organisation. The board highlighted the critical importance of energising the UAE role in these world institutions, which act as an ideal gateway to global tourism markets. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
